A man was travelling through India, He was a foreigner and he had never seen an elephant. He passed through the house of a man who owned elephants. The foreigner saw the elephants chained with a very thin rope.
He asked the owner, "How is it that the elephant does not break the rope and runs away?". The owner smiled and replied. "The elephant does not know that he can easily break the rope. There is no rope in the world that this elephant can not break. So when these elephants were small, we chained them using a thin rope. In the start they tried a lot to break the rope, but they were not strong enough at that time to break them. and slowly they started to believe that this rope was unbreakable and they gave up. This is the only way to keep them chained. The moment they know that they are now strong enough to break the rope and run away, they will easily do that".
There is another common belief that due to the small, spherical and convex nature of an elephant's eyes, Humans look very tall and big to them . That's why they can be controlled relatively easily. Though its not scientifically correct, Its another powerful example of why perception matters.
We are also chained in the ropes that the society sets upon us. "This is not possible, that is not possible, you can not do that etc...". And slowly we start to believe it. And just like the elephant, we also set a lot of boundaries for us. We look at other people, things they have failed at and we believe that we also can not succeed in achieving it. We forget that everyone is different and we all have different abilities. What if someone else failed? or We have failed in the past? That does not mean we will always fail.
This story also reflects the current status of our Ummah. There are 2 billion Muslims in the world. yet we feel so alone, so hopeless and helpless. There is no power in the world that can stop us, yet everyone is chained with thin, weak ropes like nationalism and capitalism. Only if we learn that we are strong once again, And we don't have to worry about anyone or anything except Allah, we can conquer Palestine, give our Palestinian brothers justice that they deserve, Our Iraqi people the peace they deserve and our Syrian brothers their home back.
I have hope, The illusion of USA's "strong man" is breaking. everyone is now slowly realizing that they are no more stronger in front of Islam than a mere human in front of an Elephant.
