Why you should get a Kindle?

The kindle is a product by the well known company Amazon. It is an eBook reader with an e-ink display and in this blog I will point out some highlights of Amazon Kindle and will try to convince you why you should get one.

No lights and screen refresh

All the displays use some kind of light emitters inside of them to show the data on the screen. For example an LED screen uses LED lights to emit light and to show data, Same is the case with LCD displays. But an e ink display does not emit any light. It contains around a million charged and uncharged particles under the screen which are either black or white. different arraignments are used to show different pictures and data on the screen.

How E-ink particles work

So quite literally they don't emit any light and that's why you can easily read books on them even in sunlight, on the other hand you will need a source of light to read the kindle in the dark just like real paper

The second best thing about a Kindle is that that it doesn't refresh its screen automatically. A normal display gets refreshed around 100 times per second (This varies display to display). This constant refresh causes eye strains. But in case of an e-ink display there is no refresh so that means that you get an actual feeling of reading on a book. Screen get rearranged only when you touch it then it changes a page or does something. This method of no refreshes help us to read more focused and doesn't cause any strain on the eyes.

No distractions

The Kindle comes with a very minimal Linux powered operating system. It has a full featured ebook reader software with all the features you can think of, for example an inbuilt dictionary, notes and highlights and a voice reader that can read books for you. So that if you want to listen to books instead of reading you can do that too. Apart from that there is a library in Kindle to organize and buy books, An experimental web browser with basic features (No javascript) and a basic music player. And that's it, you never get distracting notifications or any popups. Reading experience on a Kindle is almost like reading an actual book without distractions.

Small form factor

The form factor of an Amazon Kindle is a very minimal. This 6 to 8 inches device can fit anywhere even in some of your pockets. Also you can store thousands of books in it as it will give you around 6 GB of free storage. This is more than enough. The battery lasts more than a week so it's the best choice if you want to read books while traveling.

Cost friendly

Generally eBooks are cheaper than their hard copies, Also you can read external books if you can download some open licensed books from internet. This device itself costs around $100 which is a very reasonable price for a device with an E-ink display.

The emotional dilemma

 Sometimes I ask this question to myself, and I have been asking this question a lot more lately.  “should we allow our emotions to fluctuate or should we train ourselves to always remain in a stable state emotionally?” To be honest, its really a question of preference, I see advantages and disadvantages in both approaches.  As a man I feel like its quite essential for me to have a good control over my emotions and not let it come in my way of work. All language is but a poor translation

 Recently I came across this Quote by Franz Kafka.  “All Language is but a poor translation”.  Or as I like to say it, “A language is nothing but a poor translation of feelings”. And the more I think about it, It makes more sense.  On first thought, this idea seems conflicting.
